Submission Fee Support

For Full-length Poetry Books + Poetry Chapbooks

Confidential, poet-to-poet support to cover submission fees and help give your poetry book an at-least-a-little-more-fair chance to get in front of publishers.

Over $13,000 shared with over 270 poets since March 2021. The individual submission fees vary from poet to poet, but if we go by the average fee of $23 in 2024, at least 580 submissions have been supported so far.

Who this is for

Poets who can’t afford to submit their manuscripts to publishers. Poets who face barriers of time, access, or energy. Poets who have historically been underrepresented.

Important update in 2025

I can get you funds via Paypal, and only to your personal Paypal account. I know there are limitations in certain countries, and sometimes a “go-between” is used (i.e., a friend takes the funds on your behalf). This isn’t an option now.

There have recently been issues with people impersonating poets, and Paypal has flagged my account on a handful of transactions. This has been time-consuming to deal with and could put all of the submission support at risk. For the sake of this project and my own work, I can’t afford to get blocked by Paypal, so I’ve had to tighten up some of the process here.

What this support covers

  • Submission fees for poetry chapbooks and full-length poetry manuscripts only.

  • A maximum of three submissions per poet, per year

How to get support

If submission fees are a barrier for you, let me know by emailing hello (at) emilystoddard (dot) com. This fund covers a max of three submissions per poet, per year. A simple note is great, sent at least one week before your deadline. Just tell me:

  • Up to three places you're submitting a poetry chapbook or full-length book

  • How much it costs

Email Emily for fee support

No worries about including extra details about yourself or why you deserve support. This project is all done in the spirit of mutual aid.

Please do not send the same request more than once. It makes it harder for me to do this work in a timely way—I promise I’m getting your emails, so no need to repeat.

Please reach out at least one week before your deadline. I try my best to get back to everyone quickly, but I can’t follow up fast enough for last-minute deadlines.
